My name is Carter Hladki, I am a teenager and I have been dealing with Celiac Disease since I was 8 years old. I’m a Junior at Birmingham Groves High School in Beverly Hills, MI. I am a varsity athlete, I help with the Unified Basketball Team at Groves High School, where special needs players are supported by able bodied teammates, so they can truly enjoy the game of basketball, and I participate in Charity Week.
I love helping people who need guidance and encouragement in any area of their lives. With the Celiac Family Network, I want to help new and formerly diagnosed people, especially children, who need an ally to talk to and are searching for resources. I’d love to help these students go from “cardboard bread” choices to “delicious gluten free options.” Lastly, I hope to help students and parents alike find gluten-friendly restaurants, navigate the BPS cafeterias and much more. Additionally, my family hopes to bring others families together to fighting the same fight: being gluten-free.
